Lesson Flow

Time: 10-15 minutes

The goal of this phase is to energize the students and introduce the basic vocabulary in a fun, low-pressure environment.

1. Ice Breaker: "Hello, My Name Is..." (5 mins)
   • Have students form a circle.
   • Start by saying, "Hello, my name is [Your Name]. What's your name?" and gently toss a soft ball to a student.
   • The student who catches it introduces themselves and tosses it to another.
   • Mindful Moment: Ask students to try and remember their friends' names, promoting active listening.
2. Warm-up Game: "Family Guessing Game" (5-10 mins)
   • Show flashcards of family members and ask, "Who is this?" Encourage students to say the English word.
   • Play variations like miming a family member's actions (e.g., cooking for "mother") and having students guess.

Time: 25-30 minutes

This is the main teaching part of the lesson where the concept of the family tree is introduced, modeled, and then practiced by the students.

1. Introduction to Concept (5 mins): Draw a simple tree on the board and explain, "A family tree shows all the people in our family!" Show a pre-made example with labels.
2. Teacher's Family Tree (10 mins): Model the activity by drawing your own simple family tree on the board. Start with "Me," then add "Mother" and "Father," using simple sentences like, "This is my mother."
3. Student Interaction: Drawing "My Family Tree" (10-15 mins): Distribute paper and crayons. Instruct students to draw their own family tree, labeling members in English. Walk around to provide assistance and encouragement. Mindful Moment: Ask them to think about what makes each family member special as they draw.

Time: 10-15 minutes

This game reinforces the vocabulary in a highly active and joyful way, encouraging teamwork and quick thinking.

1. Divide the class into two teams.
2. Have a student from one team pick a slip of paper with a family member's name.
3. The student either acts out (Charades) or draws (Pictionary) the family member without speaking.
4. Their team has 30 seconds to guess the word in English to earn a point.
5. Joyful Element: Encourage cheering and celebrate all attempts to create a fun, competitive atmosphere.

Time: 5 minutes

This final phase solidifies the lesson's concepts and ends the class on a positive note.

1. Quick Review: Hold up flashcards and have the class say the words together. Ask students to hold up their drawings and show a friend.
2. Praise & Appreciation: Give specific praise for their hard work. Emphasize the importance of family.
3. Homework (Optional): Suggest they show their drawing to their family and practice the new words at home.
